is like trying to clutch a handful of fog.
Trying to forget,
like trying to hold back the monsoon.
I love this line because it is plain and simple and true, but it is written so beautifully and poetically. It shows a concept of how trying to remember is not easy and it is illusive and almost impossible and confusing and indefinite, like fog. And trying to forget is impossible and hard and huge, like a monsoon. I think this line is beautiful because it shows Lakshmi's way of thinking about it, with examples that make sense to her, but are mysterious and beautiful to others. I think all in all, the reason I love it is because it is different and a new way of thinking for me. It also provokes me to think about remembering and forgetting, an idea so simple, yet so complex.
